On June 2, 2021 all medical mandates were lifted in Ohio, thus making the medical decrees voluntary and opening up summer for “fun in the sun”! West Chester Township, anticipating the reversal, planned summer events for the benefit and well-being of all residents who choose to attend.

Below is a list of West Chester events with times, dates and a short description. All events are free unless otherwise posted.

 

 

The ‘Takeover’ at the Clocktower is back! Every Thursday from 6 – 9 through August 26, 2021, with a different band playing each Thursday. Food trucks, beer, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase. ‘Thunderstruck’ plays on June 24, followed by ’90 Proof ‘on July 1, then ‘Naked Karate Girls’ on July 8.

Check out the schedule to find your favorite bands, then head out to The Square with your lawn chairs for a relaxing evening of fun!

The Keehner Park Concert Series returns on Saturday, June 26 with the West Chester Symphony playing at the Keehner Park Amphitheater. Thereafter, every Saturday from 7 – 9 through September 6, 2021. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, picnic snacks and non-alcoholic beverages and enjoy the music. Arrive early to get a great spot and enjoy the other park amenities. The Shamrock Shuffle, normally held on or about March 17, has moved it’s start date this year to September 11, 2021 and is the Half-Way to St. Paddy’s Day 5k race and block party on the Square @ Union Centre. The Shamrock Shuffle is an annual event hosted by the Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty and supports dozens of local non-profit organizations by raising more than $100,000 each year through the generosity of event sponsors and participants. This year’s Shamrock Shuffle will include a special commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of 9/11.

The National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting is hosting a three-day, outdoor, festival style event called Taps, Tastes and Tunes at the VOA Park July 2 – 4. The 2021 festival includes live music, great food, cold beverages, craft vendors and activities for the whole family.

Hours for the event are:
• Friday, July 2 from 5-11,
• Saturday, July 3 from Noon – 11,
• Sunday, July 4 from Noon – 10.

Live music on Friday, July 2 includes Vinyl Countdown at 5pm and The Everyday People Band at 8pm.

West Chester Township has approved $20,000 for an amazing Rozzi fireworks display to close the event Sunday at 9 p.m. The Taps, Tastes and Tunes Festival is a ColdIron Productions, LLC event offered in cooperation with MetroParks of Butler County and for the benefit of the National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting.

“The community is invited to celebrate our country’s Independence on the grounds of the Voice of America where the cry for democracy was shouted to the world,” said West Chester Trustee Ann Becker. “Food, music, fireworks, and fellowship – the best way to celebrate our freedom.”

The West Chester Farmers Market is a “shop local, shop small, shop fresh” outdoor market every Saturday through September 25 from 9-1 at The Square @ Union Centre. Local growers and makers of organic foods and crafts are on hand at this one-of-a-kind market that also features entertainment and fun activities for the family.

The Union Centre Food Truck Rally, sponsored by the Union Centre Boulevard Merchant Association (UCBMA) will be held at Union Centre Square on August 13 from 11:30am to 10:00pm.

Join fans from all over the Tri-State area for live music, games, libations, and over 35 of your favorite food trucks and vendors! The beneficiary for the 2021 Union Centre Food Truck Rally is the Cincinnati Children’s StarShine Hospice.

The WOLF (World of Land, Forest and Friends) program at Keehner Park is for children ages 5 to 12 and focuses attention on a specific topic related to nature and the environment.

Each of the classes for the WOLF program will be offered at 10:30 am and 1:00 pm on Wednesdays through August 4, 2021 on the Amphitheater stage at Keehner Park. Participants who attend 5 of the 6 sessions will earn a prize. The wildlife topics include Common Birds, Cicadas, Creek Critters, Animal Adaptation, Police Canines and Wild About Wildlife.
